Service Description

Advanced Baking Class: Step into a classic New York bakery and learn to make the iconic Black & White Cookie completely from scratch! Known for their soft, cake-like texture and signature half-vanilla, half-chocolate icing, these beloved cookies have been a staple of New York bakeries for generations. In this hands-on baking class, students will learn how to prepare the rich batter that gives these oversized cookies their tender crumb and soft texture. They’ll practice portioning and baking techniques to achieve the perfect cookie shape—slightly domed with a smooth surface ideal for icing. They’ll then master the signature decorating technique of icing each cookie half vanilla and half chocolate with clean, polished lines. This class focuses on essential baking skills including measuring, mixing, glaze preparation, and decorative finishing. By the end of class, students will take home a batch of authentic New York Black & White Cookies that are as delicious as they are iconic. Class Guidelines: *Please ensure long hair is all tied back PRIOR to arriving in class. *Participants will be standing for most of the class, please wear Closed-Toed shoes. *This is a drop-off program designed to foster independence in the kitchen. *Missed classes are non-refundable—please review our Cancellation Policy. In each class, students work together in teams of two, fostering teamwork and camaraderie. As part of the experience, they'll make and enjoy some of the food they created during class. They'll also have the chance to take a portion of their creation home to share including the recipes, as the focus is on learning and practicing Culinary techniques.
