Service Description
This hands-on class/series will teach teens the fundamentals of Baking, from mixing and measuring to decorating and finishing. Over four weeks, students will explore a variety of baked goods, learning essential skills to build confidence in the kitchen. Week 1: Sweet Beginnings – Cookies & Brownies~ Skills Covered: Proper measuring, mixing dough, and baking techniques. Dishes: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Brownies. Takeaway: Basic skills for making various cookies and bars. Week 2: Perfect Cupcakes & Frosting~ Skills Covered: Making cake batter, frosting techniques, and decorating basics. Dishes: Vanilla Cupcakes with Buttercream frosting. Takeaway: Cupcake decorating tips to try at home. Week 3: Pies & Tarts~ Skills Covered: Making pie dough, Blind Baking, and preparing Fruit Fillings. Dishes: Mini Fruit Pies Takeaway: Skills to make any kind of Pie from scratch. Week 4: Scones & Quick Breads~ Skills Covered: Understanding leavening agents (baking powder, baking soda) and mixing techniques for tender results. Dishes: Scones (savory or sweet) and Banana Bread. Takeaway: Tips for baking quick breads and scones for any occasion. What’s Included: Hands-on, step-by-step baking instruction. All ingredients and tools provided. Recipes to recreate at home and share with family and friends. Baking tips and techniques for beginners. By the end of this class, teens will feel confident baking a variety of sweet treats and will have the skills to explore more complex recipes on their own! Participants will be standing for most of the class, so please wear closed-toe shoes and ensure long hair is tied back. This is a drop-off program designed to foster independence in the kitchen. Missed classes are non-refundable—please review our Cancellation Policy. After class, each participant will take home the recipes they’ve mastered, ready to recreate and share their new cooking skills with family and friends.
Cancellation Policy
Due to our need to purchase food and supplies in advance, we are unable to provide refunds once a class is booked. You may receive a credit toward another class if notified a week prior to the date of your registered class. You are welcome to send someone in your place to attend the class that you've purchased. The Art of Food reserves the right to cancel a class. Registrants will be notified by email or phone as far in advance as possible and will issue a credit for upcoming classes. Please review class information carefully. We cannot be responsible for allergies, food or other sensitivities that may be unique to an individuals medical condition. Please note our kitchen is not a gluten-free environment and may contain nut products and other potential allergens. Sick Student Policy: Students should stay home if they or any family members are experiencing symptoms of illness, only returning to class once they’ve been well and symptom-free for at least 24 hours. This precaution supports a healthy environment for all students and staff.
